How to get the certification of ISO 45001

Achieving ISO 45001 certification with AdvancEra is a structured and seamless process, designed to help you implement an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) that ensures the safety of your employees, compliance with legal requirements, and long-term operational efficiency.

 Step 1. Initial Assessment

We start by identifying your current health and safety management systems and processes, comparing them against ISO 45001 requirements. This allows us to identify gaps and develop a targeted action plan to address any shortcomings.

Step 2. Establish Policy and Documentation

In this phase, we help you define your organization’s Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policy, setting clear objectives and targets. We then create a comprehensive OHS management system manual, which outlines how to meet these goals.

Step 3. Implement OHS Management System

Next, we guide you through developing and implementing key procedures, such as hazard identification, risk assessment, and worker participation processes. We also focus on risk control measures and provide training programs that ensure your employees understand their roles in maintaining health and safety.

Step 4. Train Employees

We ensure your workforce is well-prepared by delivering training on ISO 45001, their specific responsibilities, and how to apply the OHS management system. This stage is crucial for embedding the new processes into everyday operations and creating a culture of safety.

Step 5. Conduct Internal Audit

An internal audit is conducted to check conformity with the OHSMS. Any nonconformities are addressed, and corrective actions are implemented to fine-tune the system ahead of the external certification audit.

Step 6. Management Review

Senior management will review the effectiveness of the OHSMS by evaluating performance, ensuring that the system meets your OHS objectives and drives continual improvement.

Step 7. Certification Audit (Weeks 24-28)

You will then select a third-party certification body to conduct a two-stage audit—first reviewing documentation and then conducting an on-site assessment. This audit determines whether your business meets the ISO 45001 standard.

Step 8. Certification and Maintenance (After Week 28)

Upon successful completion of the audit, your organization will be awarded ISO 45001 certification. We continue to support you in maintaining the OHSMS through continuous improvement, and annual surveillance audits ensure ongoing compliance.
